@residentdrummerpete A head change MIGHT fix the issue, but it's probably in the tuning. The 14" tom is a slightly smaller drum, so I'd suggest tuning it a little higher. I'd say give the batter head an extra 1/4 turn at each lug, and an extra 1/2 turn at each lug on the resonant head (assuming you don't already have it tuned higher.)

Hey. I think I might need help with wut to do here. I'm thinking about buying a 5 piece kit to ADD to my 4 piece kit. now the only thing I'm worried about is the fact that the toms that i have on the kit are the same size as some of the ones im planning to buy. What would u recommend? Idk whether to just mess around with tuning, or to sell the same size toms for new sized toms, but when i get it, I really dont think itd be a good idea to sell the toms just bcuz theyre the same size. Thank you.

@ACompetitiveHalo Obviously it's not a popular technique unless you hear something INSIDE that dictates LIKE drums. Differentiating in sound between them would be head choices, shell depths, tunings, etc. For sure...i'd experiment with the (2) 12" toms before buying into the SAME- drum technique.
