a large tree has a lot more surface area than a safe room. A large tree would catch a lot more high speed winds and have much more force applied to it. Its similar to how a small car in a strong crosswind is pushed around than a large SUV in a strong crosswind even though the SUV is bigger.

@InspiredMuse74 Most apartment buildings are built like a tank no need for one unless your in a house aoartment.

Sales on these things will skyrocket after this year's tornado storms.

@InspiredMuse74 I don't have a basement either and I live in a high-end apartment place LOL

Why can't they build these in apartments? I always have to pick a basement apartment or find an apartment that has a basement area. They could put this in the area of a walk in closet and it could double as a walk in closet.
No offense but this family safe thing is bull shit if a tornado can uproot a 100 year old salt seeder with roots 7 foot deep what do you think twelve inch bolts in concrete gonna do?

there are a lot of factors at play here. Such as a high CG and Wind pressure leavels that rise Exponentially as surface levels increase. ground density levels of an area as well. Also most root systems (even the ones 7' down) taper. If you look at most tornado damage the trees with a great solid root system always leaves the trunks. If you look hard enough on the interenet you will also see seveal rooms have survived EF5 tornadoes.
