Lindsay Mendez, Sherie Renee Scott and Betsy Wolfe (from left to right) sing "Up the Ladder to the Roof," the finale of the Broadway musical EVERYDAY RAPTURE, as part of the opening number to the 2010 Tony Awards. Choreography is by Michele Lynch. The musical received two nominations: Best Book of a Musical (Dick Scanlon and Sherie Renee Scott) and Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical (Sherie Renee Scott).

"Up the Ladder to the Roof" was originally a 1970 hit single recorded by The Supremes for the Motown label. Music is by Frank Wilson and lyrics by Vincent DiMirco. The original arrangement was by David Van DePitte. This was a top ten hit for the Supremes in the U.S., going even higher in Canada and the UK. It was later recorded by Bette Midler in 1977 and by the a cappella group the Nylons in 1982.

EVERYDAY RAPTURE is schedule to play on Broadway through July 11, 2010 at the American Airlines Theatre. For tickets or more information, visit http://www.roundabouttheatre.org/aat/.

  • BestArts... what is your take on the Tony's this year? I was pretty disappointed in them, except for the occasional gem like this.

  • @AtLastOnTheGround - The Tonys face a lot of challenges. CBS wants big ratings, theaters want to promote their current and upcoming shows, and everyone wants to build a new generation of theatre lovers. I agree that this year they tried too hard to do too many things in a 3 hour show - and probably should have made some different choices. I hope they'll go back to the basics of recognizing great theatre rather than focusing on movie stars, TV stars and rock bands.

  • @Alvin4NY this is not wrong, this is just another version of the original... if u don't like this version doesn't means that it's wrong...

  • In one minute 5 seconds Betsy Wolfe has made of fan out of me----Sherie and Lindsay are great but Betsy is fantastic. I have listened to this at least a hundred times and each time I get caught up in the precision of her harmonies. Sean Grady thank you for letting me know who it is. If you ever speak to her please pass my message on.

  • Sherie is awesome! I wish I could have seen her in this:(

  • is it just me, or does sherie renie scott have some serious botox in her lips?

  • @stud4man Betsy Wolfe

  • A lot of other Broadway stars are scared to death and really intimidated by going on stage at the Tony's...not Sherie. :)) She owns it too and knows she's amazing, but you can see the fear in the other two's eyes a bit.

  • PLEASE TELL ME WHO SINGS THE HIGH NOTES ON THIS-----FIERCE

  • Sherie Renie Scott.... Yummy

  • Sherie Renie Scott = <3
