man, billy really cannot sing
-
try this tuning C F A♯ D♯ G C
I was at two of the recent 20th Anniversary shows & the reason he plays soma in "concert pitch" is due to the fact that they had string & wind instruments in those shows, i.e. these aren't able to be detuned for due to their range - but if it was just a digital piano accompaniment it would be simple enough for Billy to sing & play in Eb and Lisa to transpose the tuning on the piano using standard chords or simply play to suit the lower pitch

Well yes it is the Bass riff, but Billy is singing a semitone higher in this version. Maybe they changed some of the notes so it would flow well into Cash Car Star, and you are right for that matter.
But he is singing to match the instruments.
And Soma, if you hear any of the newer live versions from most recently, the guitar sounds exactly the same as it does on Siamese Dream. That's what I mean by standard.

I do agree with you regardless that he sounds great.... and is great ; )
-
Not that it really matters, but I could not possibly agree that he would ever tune "up" for everlasting gaze, its practically a bass riff (billy's guitar at 2:48), you can hear it even in this version hear how low ginger's bass is on the open notes... the problem you have with such low tunings is incorrect intonation as the scale of the fret board has changed hence the likely baritone instruments in the studio... standard soma tuning would have had more to do with the string & wind on that tour
-
Well, he used standard tuning for when they played Soma last November and December.
He stills sounds great.
But for Everlasting Gaze, I think he tuned it up for some reason. :S

Sounds like the song Black Sabbath.
-
They did the same here in Mexico
is it just me or did they seem to play everything in a different key than the original songs?

the lower the key, the easier for BC it is to sing and scream...
On everlasting gaze, the main guitar riffs were written on "baritone" guitars.... these guitars are between a normal guitar and a bass in tone (longer neck)....
if not performing with these unusual guitars on the road, they would have to use either "D" or even lower to "C#" tuning to play the riff....
Billy hasn't used standard guitar tuning (E) since before the Siamese days, most common tuning is "Eb" for their songs on tour

Thanks so much! ES into the cash car jam was the highlight of the night for me, it was just spectacular. Cash Car Star>>Britney Spears (to the tune of Black Sabbath)>>>Buffalo Springfield...seriously does it get anymore unexpected?

I'm still lost as to the britney lyrics.....
i can only recognize "Do u want a piece of me? YOU WANNA PIECE OF ME??!!!"
what are the other lyrics? why was it not on the setlist? not that it matters.....

I'm a bit confused still.....
I don't confess to knowing britney's songs and i just looked the song in question on the net it does not support the "piece of me" thing except for Billy screaming the bit do u want a piece of me?
could it be an extra verse to Cash Car Star????
aaaarrrrrggghhhh! the details
perfection is the poison of profitability!
