And every Christmas, thousands make the journey home to visit loved ones.

But as Marga Ortigas reports, the pain of separation makes it a difficult holiday season for many divided families.

it is so sad when the OFW is labeled as heroes.... why are they heroes? what have they done? When I was visiting the phil I saw bilboards of politicans bragging about the projects they had done. Comparing that to the US, I had to laugh. Why put up a sign if not to brag about some minor achievement.

Tanong ko lang sa Gobyerno. Ano bang programa nila sa mga OFW? 2009 possible umabot sa 17 bilyon dollars ang remittance ng OFW. More than half of 2010 budget yun. Investment ng OFW hinaharang ng Gov't. Sino ba nagbubulsa ng pera ng OFW?

You keep saying the government is corrupt and all that but you dont do anything about it all you do is complain and say you cant do anything about it. The most anyone can do is list the bad things and give no solution. They need organization to help plan what they can do and what they can expect to get as a result.
