Everyone, music just changed at that time and the band Journey changed with it. The world change. Most of the bands and groups changed with the times. People came and went. Great, great bands broke up and the world grew, MTV was born. Everybody blew into the 80's loving every minute of it. It was an era of big, more, fun, money and we all wanted to get off about the same time Steve did. Im telling you. It was too much in the end. And the best ride was when it stopped.

They were at their best when Gregg Rollie and Steve Perry were in the band together... Just awesome!

@loveofmusic59 Well, technically Herbie found Steve unemployed and took him in. Once the band got popular Steve got very, well, controlling. He fired one of the original members in '86. If I was Herbie or Neal, I'd be pissed off.

Perry's arrival correlates very nicely with the time I stopped buying their albums

greg rollie such a boss right here! great front man

Rare footage of Rollie as frontman!
p.s. More cowbell! LOL

Well, said. And he seemed to have no respect for singers. Said they should have gotten rid of Steve in 83-before Raised on Radio! On one hand would talk about how grueling a tour was back then with no technology to help a singer save his voice, but then would complain that they woudn't get the parking money and concession fees if they didn't do at least 4 concerts back to back. His attitude seems to be-use a singer till you destroy his voice, as if one frontman is as good as another.Idiot!

Herbie Herbert is as big a jerk as Neil Schon. You cannot read just one article to get the facts. It is biased. Herbie got fired, so sour grapes.Perry saved Journey from oblivion. Without him they were getting dumped by the record company. He is the reason they still have careers and make money. PS He wrote and cowrote most of the songs for Journey with Schon and Cain.
