Use this as a drill. Ventilation can do wonders when done right, fats and safe.

actualy 8firekid all that smoke was from stuff not burning but getting super heated. when a fire free burns there is no smoke. except for petroleum based materials. i agree it was a risky move but they did a great job and if it hadnt been for that vent hole all that steam you saw would have rolled back out the front door and made it very hard for the interior crew. job well done in my opinion. great knock down

why put people on a roof that is burning out from under them. all that smoke color was showing was structure burning bad idea to vent a roof that proboly collapsed

Not in it? (the fire building) NEVER ON IT.
Rescue profile for this structure? ZERO.
Why do we put firemen in harms way for a building?
Those firemen were enveloped by smoke (FUEL) and they were lucky that is did not ignite.
We need to STOP asking CAN we do this, but SHOULD we do this. We're still killing over 100 guys a year. We need to re-think the way we do things.

I agree 100%, awesome job and awesome video, you can see how as soon as they vent the smoke and heat rises up off the floor for the attack team and you can see all the steam comming out from the interior attack. that was on the verge of flashing at first but a great job from everyone saved it.

This is freaking text book operations... Great coordination between venting and attack. Awsome job by every last person on this scene! The guys even got off the roof when they were done. This WILL be shown at my station!
