Chad Pennington's 1st and 10 Foundation is pleased to announce that it has awarded $110,000 to deserving organizations throughout West Virginia and East Tennessee for the Fall 2009 grant cycle. The Foundation, which awards grants on a semi-annual basis, issued $197,500 to organizations in 2009.

Since its inception in 2003, the Foundation has distributed $930,999 in funds to organizations in the Foundations geographical areas, including over $700,000 in West Virginia.

The following organizations have received grants for the second grant cycle of 2009:

Tri-County YMCA
Funding to create/renovate outdoor athletic fields that are on-site at the Tri-County YMCA facility that will enhance the existing youth sports programs.

Operation Best
Funding for supplies and equipment to allow Operation BEST to move into all Cabell County Schools. The program works to provide students with communications, critical thinking, problem solving and team building skills that will make them more marketable in the workforce.

Shinnston Lions Club
Funding to revitalize the old Jaycee basketball courts and convert them to tennis courts and provide equipment to area youth.

Wyoming County Youth Coalition Project YES
Funding for Youth Empowerment Services (YES) - a program designed to help youth create change within their community.

Children's Place Funding to replace carpet, buy new furniture and dinnerware for Children's Place - an early learning center in East Huntington.

Beckley/Raleigh County YMCA
Funding to create a youth cardiac room - and equip it with six S3Y bikes designed for youth.

Believe in WV
Funding for pallet racks for Stonehouse - a warehouse that temporarily stores donated products so that they can be distributed to people in need.

Chad and Robin Pennington created the 1st and 10 Foundation in 2003 with the mission to build stronger communities by funding programs and institutions that seek to improve quality of life throughout southern West Virginia and the Tri-State area, East Tennessee and South Florida.
