@strappingYungLad But if the shape was made during the 60's then that makes it even LESS likely to have been deliberate. Let's just say the designer was ACTUALLY a Nazi. The last thing he'd want to do was call attention to it in a military now run by men who 20 years before were killing Nazis.

@strappingYungLad That's not what Wikipedia said 3 months ago. Anyway the naval base itself has been use since 1944. As for the initial building it is hard to find anything out without running into conspiracy theory web pages. Now they're saying the "L"-shaped extensions came later and wasn't realized at the time Mathematically speaking the shape is idead for getting the most surface area facing the outside, thus building more rooms. That's why they use the shape for display stands.

Formally commissioned in January 1944,A draft study conducted by the National Register of Historic Places noted that the shape of the six-building complex was simply an oversight that went undetected during the Navys approval process.The buildings were constructed between 1967-70,by architect John Mock. It wasn't until after the groundbreaking began that Navy officials realized how the buildings would appear when seen from above. (wikipedia) LOL
