Caroline Rothstein is a Brooklyn-based writer and performer, specializing in nonfiction and spoken word poetry. She was a member of the 2010 Nuyorican Poet's Cafe slam team, which placed 2nd at the 2010 National Poetry Slam. Rothstein is a proud member of the Intangible Collective, and was both a member and the director for the University of Pennsylvania's spoken word performance poetry group The Excelano Project. For the past decade, Rothstein has competed and performed at venues and colleges all over the United States. A longtime activist in eating disorder recovery, she hosts the YouTube and Tumblr blogs "Body Empowerment," sharing her own recovery story as a means to promote positive body image worldwide. She has self-published two books of poetry, "This Book Wrote Itself" (2009), and "What I Learned in College" (2006). She has a B.A. in classical studies from the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.S. from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. www.carolinerothstein.com
