I recently got the Kodak Playsport Zx5 and really like it. I have noticed that my other camera was starting to have issues and I wanted to replace it. I didn't have a lot of money to invest so I started looking for the cheapest durable video camera that had a macro feature, and the Playsport Zx5 was the winner.. for under a $140.00, it's also waterproof up to a couple of feet, has several upgrades like attachable lenses, microphone fuzz for wind, and is ready to shoot in 1080p just be sure to get a large memory card. 32 GB is the largest it will hold...
Don't make the mistake of getting the Playsport Zx3 because it does not have macro and is pretty much useless for filming detecting vids... That is if you want close-ups of yours finds... Below is a vid I did today... Sorry it is not much of a vid but it does show the high points of the camera...I'm no expert, but I have filmed a few hunts and I can see this will definitely be a cheaper option than a $300 or $400 camera.. Now this camera for my needs is perfect for videoing metal detecting hunts. Now if you want to do a lot of zooming to a great distance,, then it will not be the camera for you.. but for filming stuff say 30 foot and closer should be fine.. 10 ft and closer is real good.. Low light it does poorly and pixelates if you zoom. So if you hunt at night be sure to have an addition light source. LED's look funny in the camera.. give off a blue tint. That can be sort of regulated by putting the camera in the "70's" mode.. meaning 1970's lol I know sounds funny but it does have a selection for that, or get a krypton or xenon bulbed light source... Great review. Nice camera. I am on my 3rd one now. Metal detecting videos are rough on our cameras for sure.

@TXCoindigger whats wearing out.. I have been replacing screen covers to help keep the the lens and lcd from getting scratched...

@Gonehunting73 A screen cover is a great idea. I dropped my Sanyo in a creek in Montana panning for gold and the Kodak Zi6 started locking up. Never could tell when it would stop. With all of the dirt and grime from detecting it just gave up. LOL You are smart getting a water proof camera.

How's the new cam working out for you?

@themetaldetectorguy It works really well, Wouldn't suggest for night hunts or very low light.. my last 4 vids where filmed by the Zx5. I really like how portable it is.. The only issue I have is the memory card sometimes causes it to quit filming within the first 5 or 6 seconds. It says vid stopped due to slow memory card.. You can usually tell when it's going to do it. The sec's counter will stop counting or skip. I will stop filming and restart.. Other than that its really good!
