F57 is the reward for getting past the giant enemy crab boss of F56, which is a pretty frustrating and time-consuming affair (you can also occasionally get to F57 by warping with the 30min rule, or 5min if you've used the cheat - google "umihara kawase cheat"). The top of the compass at the start is the smallest platform in the game by far and it's fun to play around on it. It also shows how many surfaces the game will allow the rope to be wrapped around before it automatically cuts (12 by my count), and it can be used for glitches.
The first two clips demonstrate the effect enemies have on slowdown, even if they aren't present on-screen - more enemies in a level means lots more slowdown. Even one can make a noticeable difference; in F42 when you're swinging on the backpacks there will be slowdown if you haven't disposed of the eel.
