  • Love it!

How many pounds of clay did you use?

  • Simon,

Thank you. I requested this because I was very interested in seeing you make one of these tiered bowls. I've never seen one until yours. I'm going to the next video now....

    Thank you again!

  • please tell us how to make the clay cone up without making a hole in the middle of it. thanks brucelinda01

  • Hi Simon, this has been my experience. Irregularity happens when a small base is used with a large pot, the pot tends to tilt when a small belly appeas just aftrer the base turns into a wall, the clay is thinner at the belly and contiues up as you pull up. A degree of correction can be made at the trimming process, with the pot upside down, the foot rim area has a wobble to it, trim this off flat when turning the foot, this will make the bottom square to the rim.

  • It would make a great pasta bowl !

  • Excellent!

  • I was hoping for some time to see this, thank you!

  • I'm wondering how a bowl of that shaped could be used in a practical way without the risk of its tipping over. Also, could this shape be thrown with porcelain or does it need a toothier clay to keep from flopping? Beautiful piece; it demonstrates your skill and comfort with the clay.

  • Thanks, Simon. I wasn't aware that one could narrow a base once the clay had been centred and throwing begun. This is where your clips are so valuable - these minor but essential details.
