Agile coaches need to be able to teach the agile framework their teams will use in 10 minutes or less. No joking. Why? Because they will have to teach it hundreds of times. Every time a new team member joins. Every time a manager stands in the team's way. And many more times besides. This video shows how Lyssa Adkins, coach of agile coaches, teaches the Scrum framework. Use her example as a starting point and get good at delivering your own version. Lyssa is the author of Coaching Agile Teams, a book created for agile coaches who are ready help their teams to go beyond the mechanics of agile to produce astonishing results.

Krystian: What Lyssa (and rightfully so ) is trying to do is to distill the essence of the framework for the person who's approaching this for the first time. As the author of the Scrum Guide in Spanish ( and Scrum en Breve, also for native Spanish speakers ) a team member does not equate to SOLELY a developer. It may "seem" that way, but a "Team Member" can be anyone who has a deliverable commitment toward completing an item from the Backlog, pure and simple.

I still prefer the opensource development way with one "beneficient dictator" and a bunch of master experts that try to push the goal within certain timelimit, then freeze the features, debug them and release. Communicating via mail lists and working via revision system backed up by debugging/regression testing. This is because software is not only product, but a continuous process.

Scrum Framework doesn't have an Agile Coach role. Scrum Guide is clear about it. Scrum doesn't have a Team Member role, it's Developer. PBL is ordered not prioritized. Daily Standup is called Scrum - would be nice do mention that since it influences the framework's name. Definition of Done is also important part in Scrum.

The exercise is a great idea. I need to give it a try myself.

Great video, thanks Lyssa. Agreed that losing the pen sound would be good - maybe record voice separately?

The feature would need to be further decomposed during the Product Backlog grooming process by the development team. There is no exception!

Agile Coach is optimized for organizational dysfunctions whereas, Scrum master is optimized for team related dysfunctions.

I wonder what Steve Jobs would say about this concept?

There is basic tenet coined by Einstein which states that: "Anyone can make that which is complex..more complex....it takes a breath of genius to take that which is complex and make it simple!"....I wonder what he would say about SCRUM...brilliant or ......
