From http://www.kevincaron.com - To give a stainless steel sculpture a more stable yet still elegant base, Kevin cuts small "donuts," or disks, out of 1/4" stainless steel. He shows how he uses a simple trick to keep from disfiguring the steel while cutting it. See more how to videos at http://www.kevincaron.com

  • I was looking for some 1/4 inch thick metal to use for the base. Rather than just use washers this way it looks like a custom made part. I can also control the size of the hole in the center. A washer would have a hole too big to fill and just not look right.

  • why not just buy stainless washers from the hardware store?

  • Nope. Just me being a cut up. Get it??

  • Another I didn't know about. Wasn't sure what I was seeing in the beginning, thought it was a yellow hot cylinder that you were cooling the bottom of. :-)
