This video also give me ideas and info. As a petlover, I own guinea pigs, and we know that cavies eat vegetables. Growing mg own vegetables will lessen my monthly cost for them:)
a garden fork is easier for turning the soil. the ladies might have a harder time with the spade. also you did not mention mix of compost to native soil. about 50/50 works well. jimo.

I like to amend the soil throughout the season with compost tea. It's easy to make and does wonders.
