C-GTPO?

Looking at this footage, the first thing that springs to my mind is my remembrance of these old birds flying to and from EHAM, in c/s of Tor-Air or Fred Olsen. I always enjoyed the sight and sound of them. Under-estimated aircraft-type!

So does Buffalo have TCAS in all their machines?

My Uncle was a flight engineer on the hump C-46's,
My aunt would get nervous when he took off as she thought they were gonna be attacked by Jap fighter's,
but they never were,
His planes were mostly supply,
and support flight's,

I saw that plane when i was visiting family this summer :D love the sound

Gimli is the place where once a powerless AC 767 landed

I was at gimli this summer and all of these aircraft are just sitting lined up on the ramp, still grounded :(

My father used to flys those lovely and noisy planes in South America, over the Andes, over the Amazon Jungle and Caribbean. I would get in tears if I hear live the starting engine. An uncle crashed in a DC-3 over the Andes.

My Dad owned three C-46's back in the 70's. We hauled freight & livestock to south and central america & the islands. We flew out of corrosion corner at Miami International airport. I've ridden as attendant on many flights on those old birds. What a great plane.
Looks a little heavy to me...

Alot of the planes that serve northern manitoba are at max takeoff weight as they are the only link these reserves have..
