With all due respect to Hawk and the great accompaiment of Eddie Heywood & Shelly Manne, Oscar Pettiford is the man here - that bass solo knocks me flat every time.

  • Sounds pretty clear.

Did you patch the audio directly into your camera, or did you just use the onboard mic?

  • @khentoumi Straight line recording to the camera - I hope to change methods soon.

  • fantastic, thanks for posting, happy holidays....

  • yeah, I like the bass solo too; I like the way you can hear Pettiford's breaths as if he's playing an instrument that requires lung power! It's great stuff!

A great swinging record for all those involved; a classic.

  • @SwingMan1937 It sounds pretty good though. I only thing that's even remotely bad, is the white noise of the record, but hey that just makes it authentic.

  • Such beautiful music!

Excellent, my friend. We are all grateful for sharing this with us!

  • one of the best songs to come out bebop!

  • Bellissimo !!!!!! Coleman Hawkins fa un assolo che rimane nella storia del sax tenore. Gli altri suonano divinamente. Grande jazz e immensa creatività.
