What are you talking about driftdean ? Just because you live in a rich neighborhood doesnt mean all of L.A is like that. I live in south central. There was a shooting in my neighborhood 2 days ago and they had the ghetto birds flying all around with their spotlights.

It's basically who you know if you know someone on LAFD whether I'ts CITY OR COUNTY you have a better chance getting hired faster i'm not saying a guaranteed spot you still have to work you butt off but yeah it's much cooler..

It is not easy to get hired on with any large department anywhere in the US, FDNY, LAFD, Chicago, etc. it is a tough process. I was declined twice by LA and I have 4 years on a paid department.

There's nothing easy about getting hired by the LAFD or any Fire Dept. Just ask the 1,000 or so canditdates who are told they aren't qualified enough to work for the LAFD. Unless you've been through the hiring process with both agencies, you'd just be guessing.
