Christopher VanHorn, DO, attending psychiatrist at Research Psychiatric Center (RPC), speaks to the purpose and mission of treating adolescent inpatients during their stay at RPC. Dr. VanHorn believes that it's crucial to the treatment process to be able to develop a therapeutic alliance with the child, so that the adolescent can begin to recognize where their difficulties lie. Once the child can recognize and start to address these hurdles, they can then begin to communicate more effectively with family members who ultimately develop a better understanding of what is happening with their child.
