(5 days later)
Thursday

"I should probably go now before I miss curfew" Joe said lazily from Bridget's living room couch. The prospect of actually getting up after the gruelling practice they'd just finished wasn't attractive at all.

They'd just finished a run through of their routine for what was the last time before they would perform it at the competition the next day and they'd gone through it at least thirty times to make sure it was perfect.
"okay, get some rest. I'll see you tomorrow on the dance floor." Bridget said attempting to wave but to exhausted to actually go through with it.

After several seconds of Joe's brain telling his legs to get up, they finally responded and he walked out of her dorm sluggishly.
His eyes were so weighed down with fatigue he didn't even pay attention to where he was going. Luckily his stumbling feet knew the way and he was opening the door to his own dorm building within minutes.

"hey Joe" said a female voice to his left
He squinted in that direction and once the sleepy haze cleared from his sight and he could see who the voice belonged to, Joe felt suddenly awake
"Nicole?" he asked, confusion evident in his voice
"glad to see you haven't forgotten me" she said while walking towards him
"what are you doing here?"
"waiting for you to come home. I've been thinking a lot about us lately. Trying to figure out what ended our relationship"
Joe took a step away from her "I think when I broke up with you was sort of the deciding point"

She closed the space between the two of them and took his hands in hers.
"we were good together, you and I. We used to have so much fun together remember?" she smiled at him mischievously, wiggling her fingers playfully in his "here...let me remind you"
This time, though his brain was screaming at his feet to run they wouldn't budge. And so he stood, frozen to the spot with shock, and unable do anything but watch as her face drew closer to his.

(the next day)
Friday
"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Those words are from the play 'The Mourning Bride' by the great William Congreve and no truer words have been spoken since." said a middle aged woman in a black, business suit pacing between the aisles in Bridget's English class. This woman was the dreaded Mrs. Marx, a substitute teacher that would not only teach her substitute class but also find a way of working the feminist ideal into the lesson.

"I mean, don't get me wrong" Bridget whispered to her friend Sam who was sitting in front of her, "I have nothing against feminism, actually I'm all for it. But goodness, we've waited all year for our English teacher to get a stomach lurgy or something so we could get an off day and that day finally comes and we cant even enjoy it. Honestly, what proper substitute teaches?"

"you can find this common theme in some of the best works of fiction out there" Mrs. Marx continued "Miss Havisham, a strong, female character in Charles Dicken's 'Great Expectations' definitely fit's the bill..."

"yes, yes, rave on" Bridget whispered to Sam "I just don't see how someone voluntarily married her"
Sam, struggling to keep her laughter under control whispered back "shut up or you'll land the both of us in detentions"
"Sam, all I'm saying is that-"

"Miss Poynter" came a crisp voice from above Bridget that made her gulp hard "would you like to share with the class what you find so important that you would disrupt this lesson?"
"er...uh"
Bridget's stuttering attempt for an answer was interrupted by the end of period bell.
"oh thank god" she said to herself as she closed up her notebook and packed her bag, headed for the door with the rest of the class

"Don't forget to write that three page essay on significant women in literature" Mrs. Marx yelled before they had a chance to escape
The groans were unanimous

Ten minutes later Bridget was walking across the commons with Sam to their history class, still grumbling about the substitute teacher
"she's completely mental!"
"Professor Vacer didn't even assign us a paper..." Sam said, joining in on the complaint wagon "she cant just pull assignments out of her butt"
"well that's it then" Bridget said throwing her hands up "I'm just not going to do it. She cant grade an assignment that's not on the curriculum that's just un-"

She stopped walking and put a hand in front of Sam to halt her too
"what?" Sam asked alarmed "is something wrong?"
"my spidey senses are tingling" Bridget said
And it was true. Her left eye was twitching just as it was prone to do whenever she heard the high pitched squeal that was Nicole Henry's voice. Bridget had been avoiding Nicole like the plague ever since the night at the club and it had gone well...at least until now
"quick, hide" Bridget said, pulling Sam after her behind a huge statue
