@418sadeyes yes ive used yogurt in a pinch. Most of the time yogurt can be used in place of buttermilk

Has anyone EVER put plain yogurt in their cornbread mixture? I did, cause I did NOT want to throw it away..Anyone else ever try this?

@DukhtareKabuly When cream is taken away from milk, it is churned to make butter...after churning the cream, the butter clumps up and is removed, leaving a liquid called butter milk.

@hcvang oh no, it's wonderful. But it has to be cooked properly. Use butter. Or break it up in a bowl of milk.. yum :)

That's NOT southern conbread. Southern corn bread uses only corn meal, no wheat flour.
