new solar powered water pump

I found this 12V DC water pump at the Tractor Supply store near where I live. Hooked it up to a 12V 7ah battery that was charged by my 6.5 watt solar cell and was able to pump water. This system seems to work really well.

Do you have to filter the water from the rain barrel to keep debris from clogging the pump, or do you just draw from the top of the barrel? What's a UPS battery?

@Divineinpurple I don't filter the water, the rain barrel has a screen on top that catches any thing. The water in the barrel is very clean.

@tdjtx Oh, a UPS battery is a battery from an uninterruptible power supply that you use for a computer. It will keep your PC running during a power outage.

I like your video, I found it educational. Trying to figure out how to rig solar and battery to my aquaponics system for my tomatoes/peppers/etc. Need to be able to have water pumped from small tank where fish will reside up into the grow beds where my vegetables are. Could incorporate rain barrel into the system too or just let some rain get into my fish tank with an overflow in case it gets too high.

I don't know much about water pressure. I'd need a low power water pump that can pump water out of a deep well.

This is a really great idea! I'm trying to understand how to rig up solar systems and batteries to do some Xmas lighting, but everyone in the solar industry that I've talked to seems to make this far more complicated than I think it should be. Have you ever made some systems like this? I'd love to see some videos on this topic. Thanks!

SEEMS THE RAIN BUCKET HAS A BOTTOM DRAIN, AND WOULD DO HIS WITH OUT NEEDING A PUMP. ( GRAVITY ) IF MORE PRESSURE IS NEEDED, YOU CAN RAISE THE BUCKET HEIGHT ABOUT 3 FEET OFF THE GROUND. DIG IN SOME 1.5 PVC AND HAVE FAUCETS HERE AND THERE, THE MOTOR ALTHOUGH IS NICE TO FILL THEM HANGING POTS , BUT I THINK YOU WILL FIND THEM PUMPS KINDA TEMPERAMENTAL.. THAT'S A KOOL IDEA, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK ..also A FRAME COULD BE MADE OUT OF BED FRAME FOR SOME MAJOR HEIGHT AND WOULD RESULT IN NO PUMP NEEDED
