Please with this stuff. Players did the same thing then that they do now. Search "lou gehrig salary' in google archives and you'll see what I mean.

Probably one of the most under appreciated parts of his and Ruth's game was their patience. Gehrig walked over 100 times in a season eleven times.

hahha what i meant to say was since Gehrig had ALS in 1939 he only went 4 for 28 all singles which is a .143 average

YES!!!! exactly!!!! and he would've batted a bit higher, if he hadn't taken some at-bats in 1939. As has ALS he went 4 for 28 which is a .143 batiing average i think, not sure

Gehrig was a heroic figure ... his legend will live on....only ALS could stop him.
