Nothing new in the UNP Alliance Minister Anura Yapa.04.11.2009-itn news Sri Lanka

Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena has said that there is nothing new in the Opposition Alliance. Not a single party other than the parties which were with the UNP had newly joined the Alliance.
Addressing a media conference at the Information Department today, the Minister said the Alliance which was launched yesterday consists of 16 parties. The major parties were mentioned in the newspapers. These political parties had been with the UNP earlier, except for Mangala Samaraweera. Therefore, this is not a new Alliance and it does not pose a threat to the Government. Exaggeration was rife in the past two weeks about the Front. Minister Mahinda Yapa emphasised that the many parties of the Alliance too will support the President after the polls.
