Hi, my name is Eric Helms. I've been accepted into a research based Masters degree and PhD program overseas at the Auckland University of Technology (AUT) in New Zealand. I am a competitive natural bodybuilder, raw powerlifter, coach for both sports and I teach at a career college for personal trainers. In short, I devote my time and energy to advancing and teaching science in the fields of nutrition, weight training, and body recomposition. I have the unique opportunity to do novel research at the Centre for Physical Activity and Nutrition and the Sports Performance Research Institute, New Zealand, both at AUT. I will be there for four years in total. The first year I will be researching the protein needs of lean, weight-training athletes in a caloric deficit, in pursuit of my Masters degree in Nutrition and Physical Activity. My final three years will be devoted to researching optimal weight training programs for hypertrophy (muscle growth) in pursuit of my PhD in Strength and Conditioning.
In this economic climate, and considering the cost of moving and living overseas, funding this research is going to be a challenge that I plan to meet head on. With your assistance, I know it can be done!
If you donate you will be funding research costs for equipment, tests, my tuition and my living expenses that are all necessary to achieve a better understanding of what needs to be done both nutritionally and in the weight room to maximize our efforts towards sculpting strong, lean, and healthy bodies.
Over the next year, I will be trying to raise $2500 every 90 days until I start the program in the summer of 2012, with a grand total goal of $10k! Your assistance means so much! Thank you for supporting our sport and passion, I promise that it will be money well spent, giving back to our community in the long run!
Hi man. Im interested in supporting your research, however if I do so would it be possible to get a pdf copy of your results once they are ready? This is probably some time in the future, but I assume you will have to sell the information to make it worth while?
Greetings from Norway

@Scampern So here's the way it works, I'll be trying to get my research published in a journal for sport medicine, strength and conditioning or sport nutrition, the summary (the abstract) will likely be available for free to everyone once it is published, and the full text will be available to anyone who wants to subscribe to the journal it gets published in. I am not publishing this for money like in a book. I'll write free articles related on 3dmusclejourney and please email me with questions!
