April 27, 2007: Several days have passed since Mom was chased off (most likely mortally wounded) by the invading female peregrine falcon. She has been stealing the prey that Dad brings to the nest box. The first prey was stolen early this morning. The second time, Dad arrives with a smaller prey and the female isn't around. His babies are so weak, they hardly look up when he arrives. the smallest can barely hold up his head and gets only three bites. They are still hungry and crying when Dad leaves.

  • Two of the three babies survived and successfully fledged

  • @MyWildlifeVideos How do you make nest boxes so high up!?

  • @Humberto4790 This nest box is located on the top of a radio tower in the Netherlands. I did not install the nest box or the camera.

  • @MyWildlifeVideos I take it the one all the way on the left didnt survive? Its way smaller and doesn't look to be feeding.

  • @fuscian You are right. The little one didn't survive. He was just too young when Mother died. Most baby birds do not survive to adulthood. It's very sad, but it seems to be Nature's way.

  • did they survive?

  • The smallest one didn't make it, I'm sorry to say :(

  • freddyfast u are abslolutly right, u are smart person,we need lots of people like you in this small world of ours.

  • 6:45 - "you're fed, you're fed, and you're fed" - WTF? "Guess I'm headin' back out!"

  • no wonder the tiny one died... the dad wasn't giving him any food

  • Nature is brutal but it insures the strongest survive which in turn insures the survival of the species. Modern medicine has done it's best to ruin what worked so well up to the last 60 years and now you have weak and sickly people breeding which has ruined the gene pool.
