@lordlingcp I agree this car wasn't bad at all. BAR set very unrealistic goals that then gave this car the reputation it has but is definitely showed good pace and its moments in race trim unlike some new teams *cough* HRT Virgin *cough*

@Metallicakicksbutt exactly, i would loved to have seen him in the 2001, 2002 and 2003 williams!

@kukkelf1 It was slow. It was a terrible car. Villeneuve out drove the car and consistently dragged it into the top 10 in qualifying, with his team mate often 10 places behind. Coupled with the fact it was unreliable. I don't think it ever finished a race, I remember many occasion where it was running in the top 6 for Villenuve to retire.
I don't why people never took note of how good a job JV did in that car. He was seriously underrated.

This BAR was a very fast car and I think it was one of the best BAR's ever... The only problem was that this car was completely unreliable... It was fast... Villeneuve was running third in Spain until he got mechanical troubles and he qualified fifth in San Marino... So it wasn't definitely a slow car..

yes this car was quite shitty, but it looks like fun to drive :D (ofc if you have enough skill not to crash it). So much oversteer, understeer and power.

@mastertangster12345 It just shows how an extremly superior car makes you better than you are...

The mistake Jacques was, was listening to his manager telling him Reynard's car payed by BAT money using an average Supertec engine (basically a 1997 Renault) would be a winner soon enough. I mean I remember BAR setting out to win their first ever GP, since Reynard had managed that both in F3000 and CART.
Had he been smart he'd stay at Williams (like Frank wanted him to) and seen if the new BAR team was anything to go for. Instead he picked the big money and drained the team of its resources.

From what I remember being a huge F1 fan as a nine year old, this car just wouldn't respond to anything. This car was shit. A fast lap was possible sure, but in race trim they had a lot of problems. Over the course of a race the car would change characteristics quickly and drastically. And I also remember BAR always being one of the earliest to pit, as it just ate through tyres.

your calling this car shitty?
he qualified
5th in it in Imola
8th in Monaco
6th in Spain
9th in Britain
9th in Austria
9th in Hungary
8th at the Nurburgring
for a car that is claimed to be inferior thats pretty good

Jacques Villeneuve is a legend because no matter how bad or good the car was, or who he was up against, he had no fear, and fought to the very end at all times. Heart on sleeve driver, well deserved world champion. Much like his father in many respects
Car looks a complete handful. Understeering in, oversteering out. Surprised he could keep it on the track

I feel bad for JV, always was my fav f1 driver. Just shows though, how 6 seasons in a shitty car ruins you.
