During the mid-70's, I played every Sunday evening at a wonderful San Francisco neighborhood nightclub called the Monte Carlo (originally the Keyhole). There I worked with saxophone greats Jules Broussard (Ray Charles, Santana) and Bobby Forte (B. B. King, Bobby Bland) as well as vocalists including Helen Turner & Earl Harrell. In 1987, several years after the club closed, we played a reunion show at the Valhalla (formerly the Off Plaza). Bobby was sick then, and sadly both he and guitarist Mike McKevitt have since passed away. But on this video clip from that reunion gig, you get a hint of the fun we had for years on those Sunday nights. Performers: Elmo Ollison, M.C. & vocal; Helen Turner, vocal; Bobby Forte, sax; Mike McKevitt, guitar; John Ellich, drums; Louis Pain, B-3. [Apologies for the audio & video quality]

  • That's MY grandma!!! :D

  • I was shocked to see this - my father is Michael McKevitt (guitar) and now that he has passed things like this are rare finds. Thank you so much for posting.
