How to start Armitage (GUI frontend for metasploit) in BackTrack 5 R1 Linux.

BackTrack Homepage: http://www.backtrack-linux.org
Armitage Homepage: http://www.fastandeasyhacking.com/

cd /pentest/exploits/framework
ls
./armitage

It should be on mysql as default, not postgresql

  • @TheProtocol The Metasploit team tests with Postgresql and not MySQL. There are issues with Metasploit updates that try to update the table schemas when using MySQL. I *highly* recommend that Armitage users use Postgresql. I appreciate you putting forth the effort to create this video though.

  • @DashnineMedia Yes, I also remember hearing that metasploit will be moving away from MySQL and going only postgresql. Appreciate the kind words, only made this video to show someone who was having problems. :)

  • how do you learn all this stuff

  • @fanaruvalentin Many many years of learning everything I can about computers and how things work.

Started programming VB6 back in 1999, moved on to networking classes, computer/digital forensics, C/C++ programming, python, so on...

  • Quick suggestion: type armitage without the ./ It's already in the $PATH. If you do this, Armitage will automatically pick up the postgresql database settings for you. You can just click Start MSF and go.

  • @DashnineMedia And yes you are correct, just typing armitage while in the path works. But it defaults to postgresql

Doesn't really matter I suppose. I made this to show an individual on the forum how to start it up. I use msfconsole.

  • @princek007 first of all, you have two mm's in framework. Secondly, if you are using backtrack 5 type "cd /pentest/exploits/framework" instead of framework3.

  • cd /pentest/exploits/frammework3/ ===>> No such file or directory

    plz help.............

  • this very awesome i Learn about backtrack now I LOst 1 of my computer for learn about Backtrack :)

  • By default, I am pretty sure Metasploit uses MySQL instead of postgresql if i recall correctly.
