@SHIPCHIEF I wish they didn't cut off the film. He was thrown in prision because his eariler designs weren't good enough for Stalin. They were too slow and primitive. He had the choice of building a better aircraft or facing death, so he came up with the I-16 which was the best the world had seen up to that time.

I would suppose that they weren't entirely Stalin supporters?
