LWRC's brand new SPR (Special Purpose Rifle) debuted at the 2011 Shot Show in Las Vegas, NV. The rifle features LWRC's exclusive spiral-fluted barrel. The technology affords shooters an impressive 20% reduction in barrel weight and improved balance-- all while retaining the same accuracy and durability their match-grade cold hammer-forged barrels are known for. Additionally, the Modular Rail System is borrowed from the REPR 7.62mm series-- allowing users to select the areas to employ Picatinny rails. This results in a smoother and lower profile. It's been mathematically proven to increase a shooter's velocity while decreasing wind resistance-- thereby making the LWRC SPR truly High Speed, Low Drag. The LWRC SPR is also outfitted with Magpul's ACS butt stock, Bravo Company's charging handle, and LWRC's own flip-up front and rear sights. The first 200 SPRs will be finished in Patriot Brown Cerakote (pictured). For a limited time, pre-orders of the SPR will receive this finish at no extra charge. After the initial run, the Cerakote finish will cost users an extra $150. MSRP is set at $2480, but you can order yours today at On Point Firearms for only $2356.

  • @MARINE1146 Haha his comeback was that he'd "held other ar-15s", well hell I guess he's an expert.

  • @TheSilentOne50 That barrel isn't for everyone in terms of aesthetics but from all reports it holds up well and at a reduced weight.

I rather like the narrowed rail which has been improved in 2012 by becoming part of the upper receiver instead of just bolted on afterwards.

If you don't like the looks or reduced weight you could add a bunch of rail covers and attachments to the forend.

  • if this is a review i must be santa claus !!!! great rifle though.

  • How is this a review?

  • @MARINE1146 Not an SPR. I've held other AR-15s.

  • @TheSilentOne50

You've OBVIOUSLY never held or fired this rifle!

  • doesn't look that bad, I mena i'm not sure on performance but the gun looked sexy and that twizller sort of barrel looked pretty sick :)

  • The barrel looks like a toy to me. Not to mention that the licorice cover makes it look just... flimsy.

  • these look great i love LWRC rail's, theyre so easy on/off., great design.., also the new skirmish buis are the bomb!!!., anyone see the new 6.8 m6 sbr at SHOT11., that was probably the most outstanding rifle there., in my opinion, the mil. needs to give these guys a much harder look., they really should have won the IAR contract., fuck HK, that thing that one sucks hard imho., id take the LWRC IAR hands down ..,USA BABY><

  • Meh I think it makes it unique and likely to get some comments at the range.
