Aoshima Toyota Hilux 4x4 pickup truck

This is Aoshima's Toyota Hilux 4x4 double cab kit, the one showing the chromed undercarriage on the box. But don't fall for it. When you buy the kit and open the box, you find out that only about half of the undercarriage is actually chromed. And an odd half such as the front diff is chrome, the back is not. Half the lift kit is, half is not. Even only half the roll bar and lights were chrome, back bumber was not and so on. So you either had to strip everything, or get the rest of the parts chromed, which I did.

I sent the parts to Chrometech including an entire parts tree and several loose parts. He had them back to me in a couple weeks. And he's at www.chrometechusa.com if you're curious to get real vacuumizing of aluminum done.

Otherwise this was a great kit. Parts fit great, everything looks right. I was surprised there were no holes on the rollbar for the lights so that was a trick getting them lined up right. Unfortunately this is a curbside kit so there is no engine.

Overall I'd say yes, buy the kit, but be aware of the unchromed pieces. More videos coming, I haven't even gotten to the shiney ones yet. I've got a Lincoln Futura that has 7 clear coats! Stay tuned,

Hey I have an interesting question. Well first great job!!!! Ok, do you still have the box? I picked up that kit a while ago and never built it. On the box mine says super SWANPER tires with an N?? I think they ment swaMper?? lol!

Well I'm sure you noticed that the undercarriage is not completely chromed like it shows on the box art. And yes, there often alot of typos on Japanese kits, even right on the box! Awesome tires btw, when I got this kit I had to hunt down 2 extra sets of the wheels and tires from Aoshima. I'll used them someday on other trucks.

Technically, anything is possible. It's small though, only about 9 inches long. Might be better to go with something bigger.

hi, i just ordered a Aoshima "91 - 4runner. 1/24 how do you get the parts to be chrome ? does it come like that ?

what about the headlights & tailights, are all those accessories included in the kit?

muy copado en la argentina es una modelo 1998 es la vercion SRV y por lo visto es 4X4 pero esa vercion traia unas trabas o llaves en las ruedas delanteras para bloquear o desbloquear la 4x4 y esta no lo tiene! es solo un comentario muy linda camionera y aparte es una maquina!
