I was raised as a JW, though now an atheist. As a JW, I would have noted that Satan indeed could have inspired any holy book with scientific knowledge, thus proven Satan's existence and thus God's. As an atheist, I will note that EVERY holy book has scientific absurdities. The Bible is no different.

@prodprod 4) I HATED IT! There was an up-side, though. Back then, JWs asked for a 'contribution' of $0.25 for each one "to cover the cost of printing". Often times people just wanted to get rid of us as quickly as possible so they'd buy the mags. Dad let us keep the money we made 'out in service'. He must have thought it would cause us to actually WANT or LIKE field service. In actuality, we would've paid him to let us stay home instead.lol

@prodprod 3) make friends at school or anywhere else besides the kingdom hall. And, when we did it anway, we certainly didn't discuss the truth with them.
I, for one, was embarrassed to be a Witness. Try to imagine how it feels, as a child, being forced to go from door to door dressed in a green, double-knit, polyester suit w/ a clip-on tie (all of our "kingdom hall clothes" were purchased at thrift stores) to try and talk strangers into buying the Watchtower and Awake! magazines. @prodprod 2) we hadn't done it) and he'd say something like "You must have spoken about the truth to one of your friends at school this month, right?" We knew how to answer him from previous instances. I'd pretend to think about it for a couple of seconds, "Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Me and Joey spent our lunch hour talking about the truth a couple of times." SHAZAAM! I'd write down 2 hours for the month and Dad would turn in to the Society. Nevermind that we weren't allowed to (cont.)

@prodprod 1) Without a doubt brofun reported his time spent here as 'field ministry' and turned it in to the WBTS as such. OK, well, he padded it a bit just to make sure he got the prescribed 10 hours for the month.lol When I was a kid my dad (elder) would call his 3 children together at the end of each month to have us fill out our 'field ministry report'. There were occasions when we hadn't gone door to door at all during a particular month (for some reason nobody had forced us so (cont.)

@brofun Pretty much everyone who has a particular view (certainly a view that is a matter of doctrine) of what the Bible means asserts as much. Fundamentalist Baptists assert as much. But from my perspective, there's no difference between one claimant and another. If the text spoke clearly, (as e=mc2 does) there would be no need of interpretation. Given that it doesn't, there is no basis, in reason, for distinguishing between interpretations, nor any basis for giving credence to any of them.

@prodprod I went over the ten known stages of what we see in the earth and universe..begining, etc..the bible supports this. MOses got the order correct. Quite a feat considering the odds of him getting it right. The bible doesn't claim to be a science book designed to give us knowledge of physics..only to let us know God created these things. The bible is to give us information on one main theme..eternal life lost (by adam and eve) and how we can gain that eternal life back.

@prodprod who is correct? What are the consequences of choosing to believe as opposed choosing not to believe?
Now, I'm not trying to bring up pasquel's wager..I don't believe in that kind of 'insurance'. I'm thinking in terms of truth..real truth..I don't believe that truth is relative. It is either true, or it isn't. The bible has been proven true time and again..and has not been proven untrue. but, science on the other hand, and scientists, have been proven wrong time and again.
At the bottom of the ocean, some say, one peers into the EVOLUTIONARY process looking at the creatures that exist there. Yet no one can find fish with beginner lungs. And yet you do find divergence to our reality.
If existence sprang from one source leading to this eventuality we live in, would not serendipity support multiple platforms to different realities at the same time? Why only one pathway if EVOLUTION is true? Why is this platform unique if chance is a major element? God exist.

@sunnyforever2 There's a Nobel Prize, £1m cash, and world-wide fame up for grabs for the scientist that disproves evolution. So let me get this straight: you'd rather spend your time posting comments about such disproof on random YouTube videos, rather than offering up some actual peer-reviewed scientific evidence through the appropriate channels within the scientific community, yes?
