I made this in January 2009 after collecting footage from Armistace Day.
At the time, William Stone, Harry Patch and Henry Allingham were the only UK survivors of The First World War left, so I made this video to commemorate them.
Sadly, during the making of the video, William Stone passed away, so this video holds a tribute to him.
But since finishing this video and uploading it, the last 2 survivors have also passed on, and so I hope you will enjoy this video, while I am currently working on memorials for both Harry Patch and Henry Allingham.
Apologies for the quality of the footage- the compression wasnt great. The music and sound is courtesy of 'Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots' and '300'.
I never met any of these men, so I cant say anything about them. However, I can say this:
Even though they have now died, I am sure their families, friends and anyone else who cares will continue to tell their stories. After all, lives may only last decades, but legacies last centuries.
