Eric Delaney showing how it's done at the UK National Drum Fair held in Birmingham, Sept 26th and 27th 2009. This recording taken on the 26th September. Not bad for an 85 year old ! Oh, and wait right until the end to hear a few (choice) words from the man himself!

  • saw eric in1979 in glasgow when i was 15, totally blew me away, light bulbs in the drum shells epic!!

  • Buddy, Louie and now Old Skin 'ead. All the greats are in heaven.

    Sleep well Eric.

  • RIP Eric Delaney. An inspiration to me and to many others I'm sure.

  • just recieved a message from a drummer mate of mine who knew him and worked with eric in the house band in either Butlins or something like that,Tam told me Eric passed away. I had only heard Eric Delenay once at Blackpool Tower Ballrooms,What a charactor who showed an immense passion and energy for Music and Drumming in general.............RIP Eric Delenay...

  • Eric Delaney passed away last night peacefully in his sleep aged 87.... RIP Eric you'll be missed here in Benidorm (where he worked in The Town cabaret bar for many years).

  • Great to see some clips of Eric, & to see him playing at his age.

I have him on vhs tape playing the Cork Jazz Festival sometime in the '90ies. I also have a recording of him playing this tune (Different Arrangement) on an album called Skin Ed goes Skin Deep, playing all sorts of percussion as well as the kit.

    Thanks For Posting

  • A great gent. Met him on sunday at the NDF just gone Sept 2010.

86 years old and in his own words, 'I'm still alive'!

  • jesus what a huge bass drum

  • What a showman, I think he is over 80 now but still plays superb, wish there was another DVD of him to go with the Blackpool 1988 Disc

  • i was there :P, i didnt really enjoy the show didnt really do it for my age group the jokes he made and stuff and it jus seemed he wanted to re-live his life in a way but he did lose the tempo is such more horrible places then this. but i can understand why people love him and his brand of humour. Hes out of date for this generation the old people seemed to enjoy it tho
