Rally for Annexation Reform

Anti-annexation rally held in Raleigh, NC on May 6, 2009. North Carolina currently has a repressive and unfair forced annexation law that is used by municipalities to extort tax dollars from property owners. The original annexation law was intended to benefit the rural areas by providing utilities and other services. The property owners being annexed already have such services - either provided by the county or by private service providers. The municipalities only want the revenue and can provide no benefit to the newly annexed property owners.
