  • Grumio, I've always wanted to ask you.. why do you prefer a spear over say.. a glaive which has a red and green surface?

  • Well to start off I don't have a lot of arm strength and I am not a very aggressive person, so spear just works better for my body/ mind set.

Spears have longer reach and they are lighter, so I can throw more shots than I could with a red/green.

I also enjoy the challenge of trying to kill a shield fighter with just a spear and short sword. Some how a spear just feels "pure". Being out on the field with no protection and always fighting an uphill battle is fun.

  • Cool thanks, I'm not a part of Dagorhir or any other foam tool battling groups, but I do make a lot of foam weapons, but simplier ones only made out of pvc pipe, foam and lots of duck tape. And I was making a spear, since I gave my old one away, and i made the tip really bad and it was wobbly and hurt more, but this works much better and cushions the impact, lucky for me I already have 2 old foam footballs.

  • Awesome video. Do you know of any/would you recomend a fiber glass core that can screw apart? Transporting even a 6' staff can be moderatley annoying. And shoving an 8-10 foot staff into most cars will just damage it.

I imagine having pieces that can screw apart will either add too much weight or just completely ruin stability.

  • @Mightygold3 He's doing a lot of work with Dap which, due to the fumes being heavier than air and very flammable, has two separate warnings on the can to *shut off your main gas valve* if you're using it inside.

It may only be relevant if you're using it on the scale a contractor would, but I wouldn't want to risk it.

  • WTF GO INSIDE!!

  • are you wearing a skirt? or is it me?

  • It's the feeling of the perfect shot right to the gut.

    Love,

    Glork

  • You can get either PVC or Banshoppe poles. PVC is flexible and can be wiggled around while bandshoppe is much sturdier and doesn't waggle at all. It's really personal preference.

  • where do you get the cores for the spears?

  • Just an idea, when dapping the open cell foam, try using clear coat laquor or any spray paint for that matter. It might degrade the foam so try it on scrap first, but this, if done right should give a better surface for the dap to adhere to which should reduce drying time.
