Tall cousins Kishore Ryan (Seagull, Otouto, Where Were You At Lunch) and Kieran Ryan who form the melted, subverted, deconstructed, troubadour duo Kid Sam.

They played their first gig in January 2006. Kieran went away for the rest of that year and Kishore got a job in a supermarket and wrote some poems. Since releasing their debut LP in March, they have been lauded by critics for the depth of their songwriting and their engaging live shows. Theyve also toured Australia extensively playing alongside Jack Ladder, Middle East and the Firekites, and received frequent airplay on JJJ, RRR, Fbi, and PBS.

Their debut LP, produced by Nick Huggins, is available now through Two Bright Lakes.

The second single from Kid Sams debut is 'Down to the Cemetery', and Alice Glenn has directed a most excellent video, which is now available to see right here online.

  • I just heard this on the radio, loved it, big thumbs up to the artist.

  • Woke up wondering why I haven't heard this song in months. So tough. I'll happily search cheap flights to Tassie? ;)

  • "and burn the magazines you read when your alone" - what a great lyric. I could write for a million years and never say anything as brilliant and true as that. How eternally grateful I will be to have discovered this album and had the singer singing in my mums back room live and acoustic. What a blessing in my life. These songs just get better and better each and every listen. I wish everyone in the world gets to hear these tunes and I hope they write more. cheers alex in Perth. God bless u man

  • What a great song. Long lasting in your ear and mind far after you first hear it. Awesome lyrics - an echo of Mark Heard's "Go Ask The Dead Man" (IE What's the worth of one warm smile? - Go ask the dead man! etc). Though we may be many in totality there is only one of us - torn in two - male and female - with the scar in our ribs mended and our built in need for company so holy and completely fulfilled PRAISE THE LORD. Fantastic drumming - wonderful tones and intonations. Space between notes.

  • Fun day at school

  • @AlianneErinae maybe Frusciante's solo stuff?

  • can't get this song out of my head. uber catchy.

  • cool song man

  • It's on their MySpace page. (It's linked to that page from YouTube but for some reason I can't post its YouTube URL here.)
