R. STRAUSS Don Juan

Simon Trpceski has been called "a marvel" with "heart-stopping technique" (Seattle Times) perfect qualifications for playing Prokofievs piano concerto. When the composer first performed it, his audience of 3,000 was amazed fingers flying with dizzying speed as he hammered out the percussive rhythms. Literary masterpieces inspire the balance of the program: Don Juan, with its signature horn calls, and the William Tell Overture (aka: the Lone Ranger theme).

  • Why? Why, why, why? Why do conductors do this to Berlioz? Imagine telling Berlioz that he'll be sharing this big night with Rossini... FIREWORKS!
