Film description: This contemplative film depicts a farewell to a deceased wife the way the members of the Merjan ethnic minority are said to practice it. Everything in this middle-west region of Russia begins and ends with the Volga River. Therefore, two friends go on a journey to a place where Miron and his wife spent their honeymoon. Long static takes of the vast landscape pervade freely into the scenes of the funeral rite. Every acting gesture has its precise reason and naturalness. The film's style follows Russian film tradition but its general theme and natural symbolism interested audiences at many world festivals.
