Ever cool! I met Gary last summer at the HALFWAYJAM in Minnesota. He was playing with Lita Ford. We had a beer and food together and we did an interview for our internet station. I got to do an interview with Lita Ford because of him. He is nothing but awesome and I'll never forget him for his excellentness. I'm from Sudbury Canada and drove 18 hours to that concert. If you read this Gary, Thanks and Cheers brother, you rock! All you with negative comments should keep them to yourselves.

you should check your info, I do believe Gary TAUGHT most of those you named. he has been around much longer than they have.

Gary is good guitarist but he came on the back of Satriani/Steve Vai (especially Satch), just like Vinnie Moore, Tony Macalpine, etc came on the back of Yngwie Malmsteen (Yngwie Clones!) as such he never achieved the popularity of those like Satriani that came before him, with many viewing Hoey as a Satriani copycat.

What I like about Gary so much is his smoothness. He flows through ever lick without a hitch. I respect that.

Gary and I go way back to the late 90's when I first saw him play at an opening for a movie. He played in a movie theater and he was amazing! Then a few years later he held a guitar clinic and that was amazing. Fast forward about 12 years or so and I saw him about 2 or 3 years ago when he was here in town and well guess what? ............yup AMAZING!!! The sheer talent of this guy is just well Amazing!!!! I am really surprised he's not selling out huge arena and stadiums. He kicks ass!!!!

Not only does Gary fucking rock, he is a very down to earth and cool guy. I've had the honor of meeting and talking with him on a few occasions.And his band Erik and Matt are such top notch musicians and also very cool dudes. ROCK ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
