@ThumbsUpMike kinda, he is from a grimey city like Nas and AZ. and he is influenced off Nas but not only him, there's some big daddy kane, rakim, and others . he even made a mixtape dedicated to nas called Elmatic case you havnt heard it. he's been nasty since a young age like Nas... he put his first album called "out of focus" in 97 when he was like 18-19 years old... Elzhi is one of the greatest rappers so yeah alot ppl will compare him to Nas but what they rap about is completely different..

He just Yapped Nas classic flow so you really cant rate him whether he paying homage or not its not his to style for us to judge. He does a good imitation tho.
