1st/2nd gear selector hub jams when attempting to select 1st gear. There appears to be some galling on the inner hub assembly; perhaps the outer hub selector teeth which enagage 2nd gear are seriously deformed (high-rpm 1st-2nd gear grind occured before this failure). The first gear synchro spins freely and has no visibly noticeable wear.
When you try to put it unit first, is the vehicle still moving? If so that's called syncromesh. It stops you from destroying first while your moving and usually stops you from pulling off in 5th gear or higher.
