In Atlanta, Patrick Ogle took a look around Frankie Moates' Atlanta Vintage Guitar shop to see some of Frankie's guitars. Frankie explains the differences between Telecasters from different decades and shows us a Martin tenor guitar, a four stringer that has a very tight niche market.

  • And rest in peace Frankie Moates.

  • Ballbreaker? Umm that was a joke. I am aware of the difference. Funny, for someone so snotty your history is a little off. They were used for a variety of musical purposes not just so 4-string banjo players could learn the guitar. That is a new one on me. And I don't know tons. I interview people who DO. ANd you are not one of those. But good luck with the anonymous internet commenting. It is a good career .

  • I'm sorry but it seems that Mr Ogle doesn't know much about tenor guitars.

-They are definitely NOT "oversized ukeleles". I'm still shocked :)

-this GUITARS were created as an easy way for tenor banjo players to change to guitar as it was being demanded back in the 20's and 30's

-They are tuned in fifths (CGDA for jazz and GDAE or DGDG for irish music) mainly. I never heard of anyone tuning it like an ukelele. And tuning it like 4 strings of a regular 6 string guitar makes no sense!!!
