Xela Aid - Projects for Self Reliance

A non-profit, non-denominational humanitarian organization, Xela Aid responds to requests for assistance from economically disadvantaged communities of Guatemala in ways that restore health and well-being to the people and the environment, promote cultural understanding, and preserve dignity. This overview is an introduction to the challenges faced by the underserved of Guatemala and chronicles a humanitarian volunteer vacation with Xela Aid and some of the kinds of experiences volunteers can expect. Xela Aid was founded in 1992 and has hosted nearly a thousand volunteers. It has delivered approximately $6 million in aid.
