I view the last rose of summer as a promise ,just like the vanishing rainbow. My Mum bought the album "We thank thee" by Jim Reeves in the 60's and this was the last track on side 2, happy memories being played on the danset record player and listening to it with my parents, each time I asked Mum to play this, when she played records. Happy Memories. Thanks for the post

I was looking for so long for this song. I didn't remember the title or the singer. This song helped to make me give my life in service to God. So inspired...no earthly place needed, only close to Him always, anyplace, any time. Beautiful!

Thanks for posting this meaningful gospel gem by Jim Reeves that I can personally relate to. Away from the loud clanging noise heard in many of today's repetitious 'praise' songs - to be alone with God in the sanctuary of His nature, truly is the sabbath of my soul. Sweet peace. God bless you!
