I can see the resemblance of the New Top Gear Opening Titles from this one especially the clips and that spinning gear in the last bit. Good to see the roots!

TopGear in 1977! It's 2011, and I just discovered it on Netflix. Thanks a lot, American television, for keeping this from me all these years. I might not have bought a Dodge in the 1980's if I had seen this kind of thing.

I DVR every episode of Top Gear from BBC-America now, and I absolutely love the show (I did try the American Top Gear on History Chanel and can't stand it). It is very interesting to see the roots of the program. Clarkson, Hammond, and May have injected their great personalities into it which is what makes it great today, but I think they still keep the essense of what the show was originally about..... you cannot replace their personalities though!
