No wonder Marceline didn't want to "relate to Jim as a wife"! He was an adulterous, disease-ridden, nasty pig! All that bedhopping! When you get married, you are getting up there in front of God and everyone and making a sacred vow saying that your spouse is the only person you dedicate yourself to!

I like Jim Jones the rapper

@mrshumel...or it could have been that peoples temple operated in the 60's-70's a period wh ere people set about trying to rediscover and re-evaluate the world ,where america was coming out of the hysteria of Mc carthyism , the civil rights movements and the assination og jfk, martin luther king Jr the war in Vietnam, and the boom of the hippie subculture and freedom to protest .It had nothing to do with poor education or self esteem. These people were trying to start a new life.

I'm curious how these survivors feel about Jim Jones, people's temple, etc....even after all these years

Just a man who was too good to be true.

Hail Lord Jim Jones, the sexiest, pimpdaddy, and Benevolent savior of the people, bless you Jim Jones.

I cannot agree with you! Sorry there was more then 1000 people!!!
914 died. They cannot be all stupid as you say! It is just not possible for the fact that what they have done in Jonestown in their life! They build a fantastic village with gas and electric and made an utopia a new society that actually turned out to be a nightmare!
But on the respect of the victims we need to see their goals and dreams! That is very rude to say they all were stupid uneducated!
Respect the victims!

@TheBookWorm1718 Define normal people! Apparently normal people are capable of staggering behaviour when the necessary buttons are pushed. Religion and public speaking appear to be rather powerful tools for changing what normal people consider as acceptable. e.g. I'll bet not one of those women would have considered administering poison to their babies *before* they spent time in The Peoples' Temple.
This "church" was not really about religion, it was a cover for a socialist "utopia" lead by one insane megalomaniac!

It's is obvious that these people that Jim Jones deceived were very uneducated and had very low self esteems. It is very important that people who are Followers of Yeshua Hamashiach (Jesus Christ) read and study the Bible for themselves. I believe if these people had a true relationship with Elohim (God) and studied the word of God for themselves Jim Jones would not have been able to deceive these people like he did.
