Descent Theme (high quality)

Although most '90s gamers heard their games' music on an OPL chip, many of the songs were written on high-end MIDI synthesizers unavailable to gamers at the time. This rendition of the Descent theme was recorded on a high-quality soundfont that would sound much like one of those fancy synthesizers. Notice the simulated Roland TR-909 drum machine providing the percussion--an OPL user would have never noticed it.

Nice. What SoundFont did you use? I'm playing Descent using the Yamaha XG SoftSynth and it's great, but would like to check out the one you used.

The soundfont is custom and cobbled together from a variety of sources.

Descent - Fantastic game. It's sad when I talk about it and people have no idea what I'm talking about :/ This game was part of my childhood

@vanishy0urself Sure that's true, because FM bass is still used even today. But the Drums were sooo terrible. Melodies could be ok sometimes as some FM lead sounds are cool, but very limited to one type of sound.

@ojideagu OPL2's bass is kickass. Too bad the melodic sounds are so-so and the drums are so flat and unrealistic they bring the whole thing down. But the bass kick ass.
